C — CALL OF THE WYL: A Destorian Stand-alone fantasy-mystery by Heather Wohl & Aurora Alba

Brutus, a citizen of Wyl Isle, discovers that his brother, Otis, has been charged with treason and is facing a lifetime behind bars or execution. Determined to find his brother, Brutus embarks on a voyage to the mainland, where he crosses paths with Violet, a druid. Despite his desire to stay with Violet, Brutus is determined to continue his quest and locate his brother, a journey fraught with tension and unease.

CALL OF THE WYL delves into the complexities of familial bonds and the challenges that often accompany them. An enjoyable, quick read, CALL OF THE WYL is a side story of a character from the ILLUMINATOR SAGA, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Wohl is skilled in world building and bringing creatures and characters to life with such refined characteristics that it’s easy to find yourself relating to them, feeling for them, living with them.

Another C — CHANGE OF HEART, written by Jodi Picoult; reviewed by Amanda Ruzsa, Blood of my Pen, freelance copy editor

Published by Atria Books

Jodi Picoult has a way of writing daring themes in a hard-hitting yet emphatic way like no other author can. What would you do if you had a child that had been killed, and then another child who needs a heart transplant, and the only one who can give her that heart is the first child’s killer? Don’t forget, it would give him redemption. Do you think he deserves redemption? Would you want to give him the one thing he needs, when he took away someone so precious to you? Could you handle knowing the heart beating inside your surviving child is the heart of a killer, of the killer?

Jodi Picoult always gives readers a lot to think about. She covers every angle of earth-shattering situations. In CHANGE OF HEART, she makes you see this particular situation and feel it from all angles. This book has you living through all stages of what may be the ultimate nightmare. I turned every page with bated breath.

Enjoy the read!
